Fundraising

Why do I have to register my fundraiser?

add remove

It’s important that you register your fundraiser with Bellyful NZ so that we know you’re fundraising. Sometimes we get calls from members of the public wanting to make sure the money raised is actually coming to Bellyful, and if you don’t register your fundraiser we can’t vouch for you! It also means we have all of your info in case we need to get in touch..

Why do I get an online fundraising page?

add remove

Your online fundraising page is the easiest way to collect donations for Bellyful. It’s super easy to send out a link to your supporters or have it open at your event, and we only need a few details to take the donation. Donations are securely processed and people are immediately emailed a donation receipt, as well as a big thanks from us! The donation will show up on your online fundraising page straight away, and we’ll send you a notification to let you know you’ve received a donation.

Can I still collection donations in cash?

add remove

Sure! You’ll find all of the information you need to transfer any money to us in your dashboard. That includes our bank account details and your personalised reference number – it’s important that you use this reference when you make a deposit so that we know that it’s from you and can allocate it to the right fundraiser. Once we receive the deposit, we’ll update your online fundraising page

How do I change the text, photo or target on my page?

add remove

You can change any details on your fundraiser page by logging into your account, selecting edit page, and then editing the image, text, video or fundraising target.

Will my donors be emailed a receipt?

add remove

Yes! If someone donates online, they will be emailed a donation receipt straight away. If they have given you cash at an event, you’ll need to email accounts@bellyful.org.nz to organise a donation receipt for them

I want to share my fundraising page on Facebook and Instagram how do I do this?

add remove

When you’re creating your page you’ll have the opportunity in the last step to share it on social media, alternatively, you can copy your URL in your web browser and paste it onto your social media page.

Can people outside of New Zealand donate to my fundraising page?

add remove

Yes, we can take donations from anywhere in the world!

What happens if I want a donation to be refunded?

add remove

If a donation was made in error please accounts@bellyful.org.nz us or call 0508 BELLYFUL with the details of the donation and the reason for a refund. Unfortunately, we can’t refund any donations from an event that has been cancelled by the event organiser.

I’ve donated to you lots of times! Why can’t I see all my donations when I log in?

add remove

Firstly, thank you very much for the support! We launched our new community fundraising website in July 2025 and so only donations made after that time will show up when you log in. If you would like any information about a donation that isn’t showing in your account, please contact the team on accounts@bellyful.org.nz – we’re happy to help.

Where does the money go?

Can I support my local branch?

add remove

Yes! You can choose your local branch on our donation and community fundraising pages. Donations will still be processed nationally but allocated to your local branch.

What happens with my money if I choose Bellyful NZ?

add remove

Bellyful NZ actively supports branches by providing targeted funding for those who need extra help.

We also provide the essential behind-the-scenes costs that make our service possible – like IT systems, volunteer training, health and safety, fundraising and governance. Without these, our branches couldn’t operate safely or effectively.

What does my donation actually fund?

add remove

Every $20 you donate helps provide a nourishing meal for a family with a newborn or young child. This includes the cost of ingredients, packaging, kitchen hire, storage units – and the national infrastructure that supports our volunteers to deliver those meals safely and consistently.

Why is the meal cost set at $20?

add remove

We’ve rounded to $20 for simplicity. The true average cost per meal (including all direct and indirect expenses) for this year is averaging about $23. By keeping things easy to understand, we can better show the impact of your donation while still covering the real costs of what it takes to deliver each meal with care.

'Indirect' or 'overhead' costs are the essential behind-the-scenes costs that make our service possible – like IT systems, volunteer training, health and safety, fundraising and governance. Without these, our branches couldn’t operate safely or effectively.

How are donations and grants managed?

add remove

Bellyful is one national registered charity, so all grants and donations are managed through our national support office. This ensures we meet all compliance requirements and that funding goes where it’s needed most – based on activity, need and each funder’s criteria.
